CTI Meteor Support

Below are some common questions and answers about the CTI Meteor Plus unit.

  • What does the red LED mean?
    If the unit is connected to a computer (and COM port opened) then the red LED should always be on to show connection.
  • What does the green LED mean?
    The green LED flashes when data is being transmitted from the Meteor to the computer. This could be either a caller ID packet or dialled digits.
  • What should I do if I think my Meteor is broken?
    There are a couple of things you can check before returning your CTI Meteor Plus.
    1. Try a different Meteor Plus unit (that you know works) with the same cables.
    2. Try the same Meteor Plus with different cables.
    3. Check its not a software problem. (See Hyperterminal check below)
  • Check CTI Meteor using HyperTerminal?
    As we only support the hardware and not any third party software, it is important to check if the unit is faulty or if the software is not working correctly. To check the unit follow the steps below:
    1. Open HyperTerminal. (Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Communication -> HyperTerminal)
    2. Give the connection a name. (This is not important, any name will do)
    3. Select the COM port of the CTI Meteor Plus unit. In this example the unit was on COM5 using a USB-to-Serial Adaptor.
    4. Then set the COM port settings to those below. Note baud rate is 1200 and Xon/Xoff flow control.
    5. Once connected if you lift the handset and replace it you should see something similar to:
    6. Finally an incoming call (with caller ID enabled) then 3 rings before answering then hanging up should look something similar to:

      It is worth noting that the caller ID information is in byte format and not all ASCII so it might not be readable.
